Issey Miyake 1990s Grey Metallic Kimono Jacket Origami Pleats Skirt Set

From a 1990s Issey Miyake collection, this set is made from grey-toned polyester. It features a kimono-inspired jacket that begins with a shawl collar that spans the entire length of the front placket and long sleeves that reach just above the wrists. It falls from unstructured shoulders to a high-low hem that reaches the upper thigh at the front and grazes the hips at the back. The front of the jacket is ingeniously draped to create sculptural layers and opens to reveal an interior length of fabric that is secured in place with a tie closure. The skirt sits higher on the hips and falls to a midi length several inches below the knee, while a sculptural slit at the side of the skirt adds a welcome lightness that complements the front of the jacket. It has very minimal signs of vintage use. It can fit a variety of sizes due to the nature of the fabric.
